Phosphorus Balance on Broccoli Yield Planted on Highly Upland Area

ABSTRACT

Fertilizer P applications together with two farming practice can have a lasting effect on soil fertility and canresult in pollution of waterways. The purpose of this study was to identify relationships between P fertilization and plant respons for prediction of P balance in Farmer practiced and Intensive practiced. This research was conducted in Kopeng, Central Java. Three cropping seasons Broccoli (Brassica oleraceae var. botrytis L.) – Leek (Allium porrum) - Broccoli (Brassica oleraceae var. botrytis L.)) were planted and harvested from March, 2007 to February 2008. The growth of broccoli was slightly lower in the first season than in the third season. The broccoli yields varied between 7.6 and 20.5 t ha-1.P balance both Farmer practiced and Intensive practiced were negative in first season. While in third season, the P balance were positive.
